Google Slashes Google Apps Pricing for Philippines
Google has slashed the entry-level pricing of Google Apps for Work product in the Philippines from $5 per user per month to $3. This is designed to support small to medium businesses access services in a more affordable manner.
This move mirrors similar discounting in India that has been available since 2013 where Google estimates only 1% of businesses are online. It seems to be part of a continued effort in the wider battle between internet titans such as Facebook to ‘win’ emerging markets. This can only be good for the consumer however as the Philippines could definitely benefit from services such as Google Streetview which saw renewed activity this month also.
Don’t forget if you want to save even more you can opt for the yearly pricing which is now $30 per user per year (and charged monthly!), down from $50. To qualify your business must be located in the Philippines, and the majority of your team must access Google Apps from the Philippines.
To take advantage of the new pricing, you will have to activate manually. Google advises this can be done with the following steps:
- Sign in to your Admin console.
- Click Billing.
- Click your Google Apps for Work subscription.
- Click the Change price link and follow the instructions.
We suggest committing your users up front for a year if you know your organisation will be at a certain size. This strategy, combined with the new pricing, yields an effective price of $2.50 per user per month. Hard to beat for what is likely the best email service available.
