Synacy/O&B TechTalk at University of San Jose-Recoletos
Graduating BSIT and BSCS students converged and explored more on software development in a tech talk held last December 7, 2013 at the AVR of University of San Jose-Recoletos in Basak Pardo, Cebu City.
This event was part of a series of talks organized by Synacy in an effort to reach out to top graduating IT students to join in the Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program, a 10-week intensive training program consisting of 6 weeks Java Boot Camp training in Manila and 4 weeks on the job training in Cebu.
Orange and Bronze Software Labs Inc. (O&B) software engineer and Synacy team leader Froilan Co discussed the definition and the benefits of Test-Driven Development (TDD), a software development technique that relies on the repetition of a very short development cycle, while O&B/Synacy software engineer James Brucal talked about Grails Framework, an Open Source, full stack, web application framework for the JVM.
TDD and Grails are some of the technologies utilized by Synacy in developing end user products, big transactional communication platforms and other projects for use in a number of its international businesses.
The seminar was organized by the University of San Jose-Recoletos College of Information, Computer and Communications Technology (CICCT), headed by Dr. Gregg Victor Gabison, CICCT Dean and Jeoffrey Gudio, CICCT Industry Liaison, and supported by Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT).
Other series of talks will be held at the University of the Philippines (UP) and Centro Escolar University (CEU) in the upcoming months.
