Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program: A New Challenge Awaits

After six weeks of successful Java training in Manila, participants of the Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program are now ready to take on the challenge of becoming graduate engineers at Synacy.
Early this year, the six graduates underwent a 6-week Java programming training and development at Orange and Bronze Software Labs Inc. in Manila . The training focused on the Fundamentals of Java and Object Oriented Programming, Java Web Development, Frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Grails, JSF and Struts, and software best practices.
THE PARTICIPANTS
Michael Suarez dreams of becoming the best software engineer. A Computer Science graduate from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Michael has engaged in freelance work as a mobile site developer from April 2012 – January 2014. He has liked programming since he was in college and has experienced coding using HTML5, PHP and Java. Although he finds the Java training very challenging, he has learned a lot during their stay in Manila, specifically about layering and domain modeling. Michael is a very independent person who likes to work on his own; but with the knowledge he gained, Michael has learned to communicate more, be more open and to reach out especially to his team leader.
Miguel Lopez recently graduated from University of the Philippines – Cebu with a degree in Computer Science. He may not have too many experiences with software development but he has worked in the IT department of his father’s company using Java, PHP and C++. Having been trained with the best, Miguel is excited to take on different projects at Synacy and he hopes to be an asset to the company.

Marcelito Guzman, an IT graduate from Consolatrix College of Toledo City, has familiarized himself with programming using PHP. The training has opened doors for him to try on the Java language. He is motivated in becoming efficient in software engineering and being able to cope up with the projects assigned to him.
Mark Lynoel Alvarez is the only participant in the batch who is from the Luzon area. He is a fresh graduate from Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Manila with a degree in Computer Science. He has experienced coding using .NET, PHP, Java and C++. Being a first timer in Cebu, he is excited to know more about the culture as well as the people in the city. He hopes to gain more experience in Synacy as a software engineer and grow with the company. His greatest fear is not to be able to finish his tasks hence he motivates himself to be the best.
Roy Carmelo Reroma is a graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering and has little knowledge with software programming. He previously worked at a call center and before that, a manufacturing company. Joining the graduate program inspired him to gain knowledge on software development . The program created an avenue for him to learn and develop new things.
Mark Javier, although an IT graduate, has never practiced his degree because of his love for archery. He joined the Philippine Archery Team since he graduated from college and has joined two Olympics. This year, however, he decided to pursue his degree and joining the Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program is his first step to becoming a software engineer.

THE CHALLENGE
Now that the Java training has ended, the graduates will be appointed as graduate engineers and will undergo intensive mentoring and tutoring on various Synacy projects for six months. This will be their opportunity to practice what they have learned and showcase their skills in coding. Once they pass this level, they will be evaluated and hopefully progress to full time associates in Synacy. They will have new responsibilities and the ability to access more benefits such as HMO coverage for them and their families, team building days and further learning and development assistance.
