Synacy/O&B TechTalk at University of the Philippines-Cebu
In our continuing effort to reach out to top graduating IT students to join in the Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program, Synacy conducted its 3rd tech talk last January 17 at the University of the Philippines – Cebu.
The event was hosted by Prof. Kurt Junshean P. Espinosa, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Mary Louise B. Hermosa, President of UP Computer Science Guild.
Synacy/O&B software engineers Froilan Co and James Brucal discussed the definition and benefits of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Grails Framework, respectively, to graduating BSIT students. Synacy VP Tom Okagami also discussed the Philippine-wide Synacy Software Engineering Graduate Program, a 10-week intensive training program open to all IT and computer science graduates. The programs consists of 6 weeks Java Boot Camp training in Manila and 4 weeks on the job training in Cebu.
Test-Driven Development is a software development technique that relies on the repetition of a very short development cycle, while Grails Framework is an Open Source, full stack, web application framework for the JVM.
TDD, Grails and Java are some of the technologies used by Synacy in developing end user products, big transactional communication platforms and other projects for use in a number of its international businesses.
