Talk on Software Development from O&B/Synacy Software Engineers

Computer Science students from Cebu Institute of Technology had the opportunity to learn more about software development from the experts.

Orange and Bronze Software Labs Inc. (O&B) CEO Calen Martin Legaspi, together with O&B/Synacy software engineers, gave a lecture on Agile Software Development, Test-Driven Development and Grails Framework to junior and senior students.

O&B/Synacy software engineer JC Francisco discussed Test-Driven Development, a software development technique that relies on the repetition of a very short development cycle, the definition and the benefits of practicing TDD in software development, as well as unit testing and mocking. While fellow O&B/Synacy software engineer Froilan Co focused on Grails, an Open Source, full stack, web application framework for the JVM, which allows a developer to build a full web application in weeks rather in months.

These technologies are extensively used in Orange & Bronze and Synacy. O&B train and provide programmers for companies utilising these technologies while Synacy is using these technologies to develop exciting end user products, big transactional communication platforms and other projects for use in a number of its international businesses.

Fifty BSCS students attended the seminar held last August 27, 2013 at the Cebu Institute of Technology AVR.

The event was part of the CCS Tech Talks program for BSCS and BSIT students.
